happy.mother’s.day

I am blessed with amazing kids, and an amazing wife to mother them!

This post is to honor my wife’s greatness!

She loves them, cares for them, corrects them, laughs with them, cries with them, hurts with them, celebrates with them, teaches them, talks with them, she’s proud of them…and the list goes on.

This Mother’s Day will be tough for her, it is the first Mother’s Day since losing her own mother. But her mother lives on through my wonderful wife, after all, she is the mother she is today to my children because of the wonderful mother she was blessed to have influence her.

I know it may be tough for my wife to think of today as a “happy Mother’s Day”, but I hope and pray she feels the love I have for her, and the love our amazing kids have for her, and the fact that our daughters will one day be incredible mothers themselves because of the influence she is having on them now.

Happy Mother’s Day, babe, there is no one I’d rather have as the mom for my kids!

I love to cook!

I do most of our cooking here at the house, not because my wife can’t cook—she’s actually a great cook—I just happen to love to cook.

Tonight I made Spinach Ravioli with Alfredo sauce…we love it!

As I was draining the water off the pasta, I dropped the strainer and about half of the pasta went down the kitchen sink.

BUMMER!

After I dished up everyone’s plates, there was only one (1) piece of ravioli left for my plate…

Great dinner, huh?!?

However, my sweet daughters each gave me one of their ravioli to eat.

Aren’t my girls sweet!!!!

I am thankful for the wonderful, amazing, loving, coolest, kids around! Thank you, God, for blessing us with the very best kids in the world!

success.or.failure?

Yesterday morning at 5am, I was woken by a phone call from my son, Kyle. He had a tire blow out on his truck on his way to work. He was sitting on the side of the freeway (in downtown Phoenix) and needed some help.

Now, I’m not sure if I should win a “Father of the Year” award or a “Father Failure of the Year” award…

Father of the Year

I got out of bed, made a quick cup of coffee in my Keurig coffee maker, hoped in the car and made the 40 minute drive to downtown to help Kyle change his flat tire…yeah, I’m that good of a father.

Father Failure of the Year

Maybe I should actually get a father failure award, because I had not adequately taught Kyle how to change a tire. Seems he did most things right, he got far off the freeway and away from traffic. Knew where his jack was and also where his spare was located…what he didn’t know was how to remove his spare and where to place his jack on the truck’s frame.

Anyone Want to Vote?

Father of the Year, or Father Failure of the Year? You be the judge…

missing.this.about.fall

Today I read a tweet from someone I follow who mentioned they were at an Apple Orchard having a great time with his family. My mind IMMEDIATELY went back to all the wonderful times we used to have as a family every fall in Michigan when we’d visit a local apple orchard, take a hay ride out into the orchard, pick some wonderfully fresh apples, pick some pumpkins, ride the hay ride back to the front, enjoy a nice cup of freshly made hot apple cider and some fresh and still warm donuts…

I miss having a true Fall Season so, so, so very much!
